The North East Asian American Retailers Association (NEAARA) has embarked on a campaign to raise funds that will provide 1,000,000 meals to residents across Massachusetts.
We have partnered with the four largest regional food banks across Massachusetts that can leverage their buying power and distribute the meals through their preexisting partnerships and networks of local food pantries.
Members of NEAARA own convenience stores, small grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants all across the state; often in underserved communities where neighborhood stores are the primary resource for food. They understand all too well the lack of food security faced by the families they serve and how it has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Food is an important part of the culture in India because family is tremendously important. Meals often include generations gathering to cook and eat meals. Food has always been an integral part of the tradition of Indian holidays and celebrations. It is why NEAARA has chosen to give back in a way that honors the deep traditions of their culture.
